We are now into our 2nd month of school and wow time really does fly. Everyone has adjusted so there aren't many tears these days.
We spent the last few weeks understanding and expressing our feelings. We continue to learn to use kind words and helping hands. We've done a great job learning our friends names and the class routine and the daily schedule. We know to wash hands before snack and which animal chair to sit in and eat snack. We've learned where the trash goes and how to take care of our things when finished and what we do while waiting for the rest of our friends to finish. I do need to ask that you please pack your child’s snack in either plastic or metal containers, not glass, or something they can put in the trash or backpack themselves when finished.
Last week, when we started talking about fall, we made use of some new art materials. We used markers instead of crayons, we used stamp pads and dot paints. We used glue stix and white glue with paint brushes and feathers. Some love doing these crafts and others we practically beg to try. Don't be concerned if your child brings home an owl with only one feather, it just means they didn't enjoy that process. Maybe they had more fun playing with leaves and acorns in the sensory table. We have also been taking shape rope walks to observe the changing colors of the leaves.
Over the next few weeks we will be talking about all the things that come with the fall season, apples, pumpkins, scarecrows, itsy bitsy spiders, ghosts and funny or sometimes a little scary costumes. Watch our bulletin board as it transforms throughout the season. On Wednesday October 30 and Thursday October 31 we will have our costume parade through ascension hall at about 9:15, please stay at drop off and watch as we parade through the school. Please send in clothes to change into afterwards.
This week, October 8 & 9, conferences will happen in the other classes. Please check your child’s bags for the “milestones” sheet that we use in lieu of these conferences. Remember we use this form only for developmental guideline purposes. Be assured that if we have any concerns we would address them with you right away. If you have any questions please let us know and we can find a time to answer them.
On October 15 & 16 we will have photos taken. Please see Ms. Debbie's notes for more details.
Lastly I want to thank everyone for the beautiful cards and wonderful gifts for my birthday. It is the greatest gift to have so many to celebrate with me.
Thank you, Ms. Linda and Ms. Melissa
